Summary: In a story that is ripped from the headlines, thirteen year old Kyra has grown up in a small, isolated religious community with her dad, his 3 wives, and her 20 brothers and sisters. The Prophet, a religious leader, has absolute control over the lives of the people who live in this small town. Kyra has always been a very obedient daughter, never questioning the unusual circumstances of her life. However, she does have a few secrets - like her visits to the Mobile Library on Wheels where she reads books which are forbidden in her community and her secret meetings with a boy that she likes. Unfortunately, Kyra has been selected by the prophet to marry. Her 60 year old uncle who already has 6 wives has been selected to be her future husband. Kyra refuses and as a result will have to make a desperate choice which will change her life forever. Family or freedom??? She must choose.
